Maasai Mara Cultural

The Maasai (also Masai) are a Nilotic ethnic group of semi-nomadic people located in Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are among the most well known of African ethnic groups, due to their distinctive customs and dress and residence near the many game parks of East Africa. They speak Maa. a member of the Nilo-Saharan language family that is related to Dinka and Nuer, and are also educated in the official languages of Kenya and Tanzania: Swahili and English. The Maasai population has been variously estimated as 377,089 from the 1989 Census or as 453,000 language speakers in Kenya in 1994 and 430,000 in Tanzania in 1993 Estimates of the respective Maasai populations in both countries are complicated by the remote locations of many villages, and their semi-nomadic nature. with a total estimated as "approaching 900,000"

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater is often referred as Africa?s Eden, a world heritage site renowned worldwide as a wildlife sanctuary.
The main feature of the Ngorongoro Crater, a large, unbroken, unflooded volcanic caldera. The crater, which formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself some two to three million years ago, is 610 m (2,000 ft) deep and its floor covers 260 km2 (100 sq mi). Estimates of the height of the original volcano range from fifteen to nineteen thousand feet (4500 to 5800 metres) high.

Although thought of as "a natural enclosure" for a very wide variety of wildlife, up to 20% or more of the wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus) and half the zebra (Equus burchelli) populations vacate the Crater in the wet season.

Maasai Mara

For many, the idea of going on a safari is amorphous. It has something to do with animals and Africa.
But there are many types of safaris, ranging from those done on foot to others carried out several hundred feet in the air. And even if you can do the same type of safari several times, I guarantee you will experience something new each time. And so, here’s a handy field guide to the animals of Kenya in Maasai Mara National Park.

Zanzibar island

The island of Zanzibar (also known as Unguja) is known as the "Spice Island" because of its long-standing association with the clove industry. A low-lying stretch of land, approximately 37 km off the coast of Tanzania, it has always exerted a powerful fascination over the imagination of the world, out of all proportion to its size. Stone Town is the oldest section of Zanzibar Town and is made up of a labyrinth of winding lanes, ancient stone houses, Arabian arches, heavy carved wooden doors, circular towers, narrow latticed windows, overhanging balconies and a fascinating selection of bazaars, curio shops, art galleries and spice troves. Stone Town is the only functioning historical city in East Africa and remains much the same today as it was 200 years ago - alive with a bustling crowd of 'bui bui' veiled women, traveling tea sellers, banks of old men chatting on the 'baraza' (benches) of the alleys, skulking cats and laughing children. Enjoy as a standalone Africa vacation or as an addition to a safari.
